Rob Brown, Biography

Rob Brown award winning short drama FAMILY PORTRAIT staring Elizabeth Elvin (STATE OF PLAY, BBC1) and Michael J Jackson (BROOKSIDE, Channel 4) was select by the BBC’s Mark Kermode as ‘Best Drama’ at the 2006 BBC Big Screen Film Festival, was nominated for the 2005 BBC New Filmmakers Award, is a finalist for the 2006 Rushes Soho Short Film Festival Newcomer Award and has been screened at Brief Encounters and Bradford Film Festivals. The film has also receive a lot of media attention including articles and reviews in Hotdog Magazine and Total Film.

Rob shot the critically acclaimed film on a micro low budget after successfully graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University Film School in 2004. Having worked at Ascension Films and Yorkshire Television, Rob is now developing a number of documentary's and his first feature film.

His highly praised animated graduation film 3.50 ADV / 4 DOOR featured the voices of Jaime Murray (HUSTLE, BBC1), Amanda Ryan (ATTACHMENTS, BBC1) and Rich Hikins (CASUALTY, BBC1). Rob has also directed several test commercials and is currently completing a new short drama set in Ireland during the British IRA conflict called Dark Room.
